Celebrate Christmas in Carrollton

Families can kick off the Christmas season with two big events in Carrollton this weekend.

The A.W. Perry Homestead Museum will host its annual Old-fashioned Christmas Friday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The museum is located at 1509 N. Perry Road.

Visitors can take a guided tour of the historic home and children can make an old-fashioned ornament for the Christmas tree. Victorian carolers will stroll the grounds to spread Christmas cheer. Cookies and hot apple cider will also be available.

Then, on Saturday, families can have a day of fun at the Historic Downtown Carrollton Square. The day begins at 8 a.m. with a Boot Scootin’ Santa 5K run and 1K family fun run, followed by breakfast and a photo with Santa.

Throughout the day, families can play in the “snow,” tube down a snow hill, sing carols, write a letter to a soldier and shop on the square. Live longhorns, also known as reinsteers, will also make an appearance. At dusk, the tree will be lit.
